My connection to cacao is ancestral. I am a descendant of Isabel Moctezuma, the last empress of the Aztec Empire, who endured the conquest of her people while carrying forward the traditions of her culture with grace and resilience. Her strength flows through my veins today.
Lioness has been simmering in my soul for a lifetime. My family name, De León, means “of the lion.” A lioness embodies intuition, courage, and fierce love. She protects the pride and provides for the community. Her spirit lives within us all.

The Legend of Cacao
Our elders tell a tale of a mysterious tree guarded by the gods within the gardens of paradise. Its fruit was cacao, dark and bitter, yet filled with vitality and wisdom. The gods drank it in ceremony to strengthen the spirit, awaken the heart, and nourish their divine life force.
Far below the heavens, Quetzalcóatl, the great feathered serpent, looked upon humanity with compassion. He saw people drifting from nature, from one another, and from their own inner truth. Moved by love, he descended and carried cacao to Earth as a gift for humankind.
Quetzalcóatl taught the people how to tend the tree, prepare its beans, and share the sacred drink in reverence and ritual. Through cacao, humanity remembered an ancient truth: life is meant to be lived with reverence, gratitude, and harmony.
For defying the heavens, Quetzalcóatl was cast out. Yet, cacao remained as his final offering to humanity, cherished in each sip of each cup we drink, and is forever known as the Food of the Gods.
